Morgan Wallen’s music label is dispelling rumors surrounding the sudden cancellation of the country music star’s Sunday night show at the Vaught Hemingway Stadium, Mississippi. Despite leaving numerous fans disappointed, Wallen informed his followers via his Instagram story that he had to cancel the performance due to his strained voice.
“After last night’s show, I started losing my voice, so I spent the day resting up, talking to my doctor, and working through my vocal exercises trying to get better,” the singer wrote. “I really thought I’d be able to take the stage, and it kills me to deliver this so close to stage time, but my voice is shot, and I’m unable to sing. All tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. I am so sorry, I promise you guys I tried everything I could.”
Just before the 29-year-old was due to perform, the video boards within the stadium showed a message that left the audience disheartened. “Ladies and gentlemen, unfortunately, Morgan has lost his voice and is unable to perform tonight,” the message reads. “Therefore, tonight’s show has been canceled, please make your way safely to the stadium exits. Refunds for tonight’s event will be available at point of purchase.”
However, contrary to Wallen’s statement about his strained voice, a TikTok video went viral, insinuating a different reason for the cancellation. In the video, a security guard from the venue alleged that Wallen was too intoxicated to perform.
After the TikTok video gained popularity online, BEST Crowd Management, the security company in charge of the event, refuted the security guard’s statement. The company posted on its Instagram story, stating that the claims of its employee were false and that they do not support the details in his statement regarding Morgan Wallen’s canceled performance.
Also, Seth England, the CEO of Morgan Wallen’s record label, Big Loud Records, thanked the security company for their quick intervention. “Thank you @bestcrowdmanagement for correcting your employee, who made up an entire story that was nowhere close to true. Every detail was false,” he wrote. “Laughable what some people will just say for a reaction.”
A day after the cancellation of his Mississippi concert, Morgan Wallen took to Instagram and declared that due to health reasons, he would be postponing his next three performances in Michigan, Illinois, and Nebraska to June 27th, September 8th, and September 9th, respectively.
“Y’all know how important my fans are to me, so I feel horrible about this news. There’s nothing more I want to do than be on stage playing for you guys. But as of today, I’m on doctor-ordered vocal rest, and we have to reschedule this week’s shows,” he explained. “I appreciate and understand everything you do to get to my shows, so it would be unfair of me to put on a show that I know will not be 100%. I’m doing everything I can to speed up the process of getting to that 100% mark.”
