Reba McEntire Says She And Boyfriend Rex Linn Had The ‘Best Valentine’s Dinner Ever’ At Sonic

Despite worthing nearly nine figures, Reba McEntire revealed that she still enjoys the simple things in life, such as tater tots. The 68-year-old country music singer and her boyfriend, Rex Linn, recently described their Valentine’s Day dinner at the Sonic drive-in fast food chain as the “best ever.”

In an interview with Garth Brooks on TalkShopLive, McEntire shared details of their Valentine’s Day dinner and even mentioned her go-to order at Sonic. “That was our Valentine’s meal last year — was Sonic tater tots,” she said.

The couple’s fondness for Sonic runs deep, and the food franchise is a significant part of their relationship as their pet name was inspired by the restaurant’s menu. “Well, my nickname being tater tot, and his being sugar tot, we love Sonic tater tots. They’re wonderful. And to go in there and get a #1 cheeseburger with everything on it and tater tots, man that’s a great Valentine’s dinner,” she said. “We loved it. We sat right there in the car and ate it.”

McEntire revealed that her sister Susie played a role in creating the foodie nicknames that she and her boyfriend Rex Linn have for each other. “When we were in quarantine, I was in Oklahoma, there on the home place and Rex had [started] calling me tater tot, and Susie said ‘Tater tot, well why don’t you just call him sugar tot?’ and so it stuck. So, we’re the tots. Sugar and tater,” she quipped. “Pretty silly but we love it. So we’re the toddlers. Sugar and tater. Pretty crazy, but we love it.’”

The country musician has now opened her own restaurant

The singer recently added “restaurant owner” to her list of accomplishments with the opening of Reba’s Place in January. The new business is located in her native Oklahoma in Atoka, about midway between Tulsa and Dallas, and the 15,000-square-foot establishment serves as both a restaurant and a bar, featuring live entertainment.

McEntire revealed to People at the time of the grand opening that she was happy to own the outfit. “I am so proud of everyone involved, even the patrons, the people, my friends, relatives,” McEntire told the news outlet. “People from Texas, Northern Oklahoma, out of state, even, who have already come to be at the restaurant, to taste the food, give great reports, hear the music, the merchandise, everything.”
