Just a week before the release of John Wick: Chapter Four to theaters, Hollywood celebrity and other John Wick cast members such as Keanu Reeves and director, Chad Stahelski are mourning the death of their co-star Lance Reddick, who passed away on the 17th of March, 2023 at the age of 60.
Reeves and Stahelski revealed in a joint statement to Deadline that the loss of The Wire actor was a sad one. “We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick,” the pair told the news outlet. “He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family, and friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly.”

Also, Lionsgate studio which produced the John Wick series penned its tribute to the late Reddick who played the role of Continental Hotel concierge and Wick’s collaborator, Charon in all four John Wick films and its 2019 video game. The studio further revealed that the movies would not be perfect without the late actor’s brilliant performance.

“The world of Wick would not be what it is without Lance Reddick and the unparalleled depth he brought to Charon’s humanity and unflappable charisma,” the statement reads. “Lance leaves behind an indelible legacy and hugely impressive body of work, but we will remember him as our lovely, joyful friend and Concierge. We’re stunned and heartbroken, and our deepest condolences go to his beloved family and his fans all around the world.”
Other Hollywood stars also shared their tributes to the late actor
Hollywood actors who have at one time or the other shared the set with the late actor have all expressed their shock and sadness about Reddick’s death. Wendell Pierce who played the role of Bunk Moreland alongside Reddick in The Wire posted an emotional tribute to the deceased star via his Twitter account.
“A man of great strength and grace. As talented a musician as he was an actor,” the actor wrote. “The epitome of class. A sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here. RIP.”
Actor Ben Stiller also eulogized the late John Wick star via Instagram on Friday. “Lance Reddick was a beautiful and compelling actor. And a beautiful person,” he captioned the post. “Worked with my mom Anne Meara in her play “Afterplay”, playing Raziel, the waiter slash angel of death. He was exquisite in that and all he did. Nothing is lost.”
In the wake of Lance Reddick’s passing, renowned filmmaker James Gunn took to social media to pay tribute to the late actor. In his heartfelt message, Gunn described the late Reddick as “an incredibly nice guy and an incredibly talented actor.”
Also, Jared Harris showered encomium on the late John Wick Star. “No! I loved working on Fringe with him. Gracious, thoughtful & wickedly funny,” he wrote on Twitter. “Later, we tried 2 get an indie Othello off the ground. Every actor has a graveyard of regrets, populated by projects you can’t let go of. That’s 1 of mine. He’d‘ve been magnificent. Ad Astra my friend.”
