Recently, Paulina Porizkova fired back at body shamers who posted negative comments about a body-baring picture she shared on social media. The 57-year-old model took to Instagram to post an image of herself posing in front of a fireplace flaunting a black lingerie set, a red cardigan, and a pair of boots.
“Almost 58? Grandma, knitting, fireplace? Check, check, check, check!” Porizkova wrote in the caption. “I’m the proud step grandma of five. I’ve knitted the sweater I’m wearing—and yes, I’m standing by a fireplace. So this is what almost 58 looks like for me today.”
Fans react to Paulina Porizkova’s post
Porizkova’s fans stormed the comment section with some gushing about her amazing body while others showed their resentment at the model. “I’m a bit conflicted by these images. You are so physically gorgeous, (not representative of the majority of older women) and on one hand I subscribe to ‘if you’ve got it flaunt it’ and the power this evokes from a demographic that often becomes invisible,” a fan wrote. “On the other hand, I am stuck on the way women’s bodies, especially well-honed and preserved ones, are tools of objectification in our twisted culture. I can’t seem to settle on whether these images, as lovely as they are, perpetuates or defies that cultural norm.”

Others came for the 57-year-old as hard as they could with allegations that she cared so much about age. “Why are you so hung up on age?” a social media user commented. “You’re hot… probably bc you always have been, so you have that confidence. And yet, you seem so directly obligated to show your age? You act as if it is your martyrdom.”
Paulina Porizkova responds to trolls about her Instagram post
The model has responded to fans who reacted to her lingerie picture and appreciated those who had good things to say. “I post a barely clothed photo of myself, it gets a lot of attention, and then come the comments,” Porizkova wrote. “Most of you are wonderfully supportive and understand what I’m trying to do in representing an older woman as still sexy and viable, and certainly not invisible.”
However, Porizkova believes that the naysayers also have their reasons and might be right about some things. “Many of the unkind comments seem to focus on me needing validation – which is true in part, I do need to be noticed in order not to be invisible,” she explained. “You also call me out for promoting the objectification of women. This is also partly true, I am working within set constraints thousands of years old.”
She further stated that her post is not meant in any way to be a measuring board for women within her age bracket. “Because I don’t look like a typical woman my age. I’m not trying to represent all women of my age,” the 57-year-old added. “How could I? How could anyone? Don’t we all look different and isn’t that where our beauty lies? In our uniqueness?”
Paulina Porizkova says that most women do not love their body
The Sports Illustrated model also claimed that a lot of women are not proud of their bodies but instead ridicule people who have the physique they desire, “What is truly sad here are the obvious insecurities of women who cannot find space to love themselves for who they are. For what their bodies can do. For what they can feel. Instead, they will compare, feel wanting and ashamed for not measuring up, and turn around to shame those who made them feel this way.”
Porizkova concluded that everybody is distinct and each person must embrace their individualities to make their lives better. “We can all only walk in our own bare feet,” she wrote, “making our own unique imprints in the sand.”
