Amid health issues and announcing his retirement, Ozzy Osbourne took home two Grammy awards at the pre-show Grammy Premiere ceremony today. He won best rock album for his new album Patient Number 9 and best metal performance for his song “Degradation Rules.”
The 74-year-old was not able to attend the event but producer Andrew Watt and collaborator/Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo accepted the award on his behalf. They joked that Ozzy just wanted to say, “I love you all and f*** off.”
Just last week, Ozzy announced his retirement from touring. He wrote on social media, “I have now come to the realization that I’m not physically capable of doing my upcoming European/U.K. tour dates, as I know I couldn’t deal with the travel required. Believe me when I say that the thought of disappointing my fans really F**KS ME UP, more than you will ever know. Never would I have imagined that my touring days would have ended this way. My team is currently coming up with ideas for where I will be able to perform without having to travel from city to city and country to country.”
Ozzy is still recovering from back and neck surgery following an accident many years ago and a fall in 2019. He also suffers from Parkinson’s disease. Despite his retirement, Ozzy and his family are still moving forward with a reboot of their reality show. This time, the show will be called Home to Roost and will appear on BBC.
The series will follow Ozzy and his wife Sharon’s move back to the U.K as well as big life changes in the family such as their daughter Kelly’s first baby. Congrats to Ozzy on his awards!
