Kaia Gerber is the 21-year-old daughter and spitting image of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber. Just like her mother, she chased a modeling career, graced the covers of fashion magazines, and got endorsements from high-end brands.
Gerber was introduced to modeling at a very young age in 2012. She landed a gig with Versace’s junior line at age 10. Cindy revealed her happiness seeing her daughter walk in her footsteps, “Being on set with my daughter watching her in front of the camera was a fantastic experience, I am so proud of her.” The 21-year-old also doubles as an actress. She got into the movie works at the age of 15, with the role of Carolina in the 2016 TV movie, Sister Cities. Taking her acting seriously, she was given the role of Ruby in the popular television series American Horror Story.

Three years after her gig with Versace, Garber signed an agreement with IMG Models at the age of 13. Her work with IMG shot her into the limelight as she made her first solo appearance on the cover of Love Magazine when she was 14 years old.

Gerber made her runway debut for Raf Simons’ Calvin Klein collection at New York Fashion Week and has since then walked the runway for several high-profile designers like Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Versace, Saint Laurent, Prada, Off-White, Valentino, Isabel Marant, and Fendi. She opened the 2018 Chanel spring/summer show during Paris Fashion Week and is currently one of the faces of Alexander Wang. The 21-year-old also won the coveted Model of the Year honor at the 2018 Fashion Awards.
Kaia Gerber revealed that her career was fast-tracked by her mother’s influence
Gerber disclosed in a 2019 interview with Vogue that she owes her fast rise in the fashion industry to her mom’s influence. “Talk about a point of reference! If anyone had a point of reference, I definitely did and one of the best ones. For me [modeling] wasn’t a foreign world to go into and I felt like I understood it. I knew what I was kind of getting into. I’d been around it a lot,” she explained. “I definitely think there are some things that no matter how much somebody can tell you about, there were a lot of things you do have to learn firsthand. So for me it was, it was definitely less scary to go into.”
In an interview with Zuri Hall of E! News at a Los Angeles party for Daisy Marc Jacobs fragrances, Gerber revealed that her mother gave her one of the best pieces of advice that have helped shape her life. “My mom always just told me to stay true to myself and be myself and I think people don’t remind girls that enough,” Gerber said. “I think people might try to change.”
Kaia Gerber’s acting career
She cut her tooth while on Sister Cities set at a very tender age. However, she took acting more seriously during the COVID pandemic when gigs were not forthcoming. In March 2021, Gerber got her first major project and was cast for the role of Ruby in the highly-anticipated season ten of American Horror Story.
The 21-year-old after starring in AHS: Double Feature, announced that she had landed her first leading role as Alex in the short film, The Palisades. She also currently features in a short film for her Calvin Klein #MyCalvins campaign.
Kaia Gerber balanced her studies with her professional life
Due to her busy schedule as a model during her high school days, Gerber told Vogue how hard it was to keep up with her academic demands. ‘It’s really difficult because you have a lot of different things going on. I go to school every day, and that does come first,” she told the news outlet. “I use my free time for work, but because I love it so much, it doesn’t feel like work and I still have fun with it. I don’t really have days where I can sit and do nothing!”
Gerber remained focused on school but switched to an online course load at Malibu High School to meet the demands of her workload.
