Beverly D’Angelo and Al Pacino had a romantic relationship that led to the birth of their twins, Anton and Olivia. The couple started dating in 1997, two years after D’Angelo’s divorce from her ex-husband, Lorenzo Salviati.
However, the celebrity ex-lovers were convinced that they wanted kids with each other despite being unmarried. “I had a fantasy that when you have kids, you do it in a family setting,” D’Angelo revealed in an interview with Closer. “After we’d known each other for three months, Al looked me in the eyes and said, ‘I want you to be the mother of my children.’ That’s all I had to hear.”
Unfortunately, the couple’s romance lasted only six years as they broke up in 2003. “I got pregnant at 48, delivered six weeks after I was 49, and by 51, I was looking at a landscape as a single parent,” D’Angelo says.
The couple had a messy legal brawl during their custody battle, but eventually brushed aside their differences to co-parent peacefully. “The key thing is creating a new history, and moving on from whatever dissolved that relationship to the new one of co-parenting,” D’Angelo explained. “The most important thing I’ve learned is how vital acceptance is. We all have a desire to change things that we don’t like, but you can’t change another person. You have to accept differences and all the things that led to a breakup in a way that allows you to move forward.”
Recently, Anton and Olivia attended the Violent Night premiere alongside their mother. “We had the best time. Really, I haven’t done a studio picture for a very, very long time,” D’Angelo revealed. “I was a very devoted mom. It was just great.”
The proud mom of two further revealed that this is not their first public appearance, but this is her first time attending a premiere with them. “Of course, they’ve been to the Oscars and various premieres with their father, but this was the first time it was mom’s turn and we just had a fantastic time together. It was so great.”
Olivia is one of D’Angelo and Al’s twins and was born on January 25, 2001 in the U.S. Growing up, Olivia was shielded from the cameras. The 21-year-old revealed that she struggled academically: “Normal schooling, it wasn’t the right fit for me, but it was fit for my brother. I’ve always felt la competition with him, and I felt like I had to be right up to where he was. It was hard for me, because I didn’t learn the way he did, and I didn’t learn the way that other students did. I was very visual.”
However, things changed for the better when her mother enrolled her in a special school, Olivia graduaing with amazing grades. Although she keeps her personal life away from the media, her relationship with rapper Ryan Harley is not a secret as they show each other off on their Instagram pages.
It is still unknown the career path Olivia has chosen for herself. Currently, she livestreams on Twitch and plays the video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Anton is the second twin of the legendary stars and was also protected from the spotlight of Hollywood and fame. As a result, he is hardly ever seen in public or active on social media. D’Angelo shared in an interview that Anton has a video game company to which he dedicates most of his time.
