It’s common to see music stars write their lyrics based on what they are experiencing or things happening around them. However, it’s more romantic when said musicians mold their song to celebrate their partners or acknowledge their love.
Nicole Kidman admits that she’s been a source of inspiration for husband Keith Urban‘s songs, such as his 2006 track Got It Right This Time, where he details the support he enjoys from her. In it, he sings, “She believes in me like I’ve been trying to do, I’m seeing things I’ve never seen before / Ever since she came into my life, I’ve been a better man…”
Nicole, his constant muse
Another more recent song by Keith, ”Gemini”, has been of interest to the fans as most believe he sang about their sex life, some of the lyrics reading, “She’s not quite a contradiction/ She rolls with it/ Quick with a snap decision/ I’m fine with it/ Strong on her strong opinions/ I’m weak for it.”
In the chorus, he detailed her sexual fantasies, “She’s a maniac in the bed/ But a brainiac in her head/ And I know what everybody knows/ Mm mmm, baby, she’s both, She’ll wake you to make love in the middle of the night/ And every breath that I take is brand new.”
Kidman clears the air on ‘Gemini’
Due to the buzz around the song, Kyle Sandilands of The Kyle and Jackie O Show had to ask Kidman during an episode if she thought the lyrics were appropriate; to which she responded, “I don’t censor his art if I can be a muse for it.” However, she later declared how she felt about the song, “It is embarrassing, but at the same time, it’s better than saying, ‘God I’m so bored. Make an effort Nicole.”
Later in the show, Kyle pushed her further by reading more lyrics, and Nicole decided not to have it anymore, “Shut up! You’re making that up,” Kidman said. “I’m not answering that… That’s outrageous!”
