Family Of Gilbert Gottfried Releases Video Of Comedian In His Final Hours

A few hours before his demise, Popular celebrity star and award-winning comedian Gilbert Gottfried was recording an episode of his SiriusXM podcast “Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast” alongside his guest Brenda Vaccaro. His family released a video showing the moments from his verified Twitter account.

Sadly, Gilbert Gottfried died that same day around 2 pm ET from his long-standing disease, recurrent ventricular tachycardia due to myotonic dystrophy type II, Gilbert’s close friend, Glenn Schwartz, reported during an interview session with the press.

Brief History of Gilbert Gottfried


Gilbert was an actor and American standup comedian born on the 28th of February, 1955; he was married and had two children; Gilbert died on the 12th of April, 2022. He played his roles with an exaggerated shrill voice, popularly called “the strong New York accent.” His numerous roles in movies and television included “voicing the scarlet macaw Iago” in the movie titled Aladdin. He was also known for his role as Mr. Peabody in the award-winning movie series Problem Child.

What Gilbert Gottfried’s family members said about his death

His family members took to his Twitter page and tweeted, “Last video of Gilbert’s last recording of ‘Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast.’ Making his James Mason impression with guest Brenda Vaccaro. A few hours later, he would be rushed to the hospital. We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness. In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend, and father to his two young children; although today is a sad day for us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor. Love the Gottfried family,” the statement was finalized.

After his death, Gilbert’s family received a post humorous award from the Broadway cast of Aladdin. During their popular evening TV show, Don Darryl Rivera told the crew and his audience, “Tonight, we’d like to take a moment to celebrate the life of a comedy legend, a funny man with an indelible voice. The man who breathed life into Iago for the animated film, Mr. Gilbert Gottfried. I, along with five other actors worldwide, have the distinct privilege to bring Iago to life on stage. I think one of the main reasons this character is who he is, is because of what Gilbert brought to the animated film: his comedy and that voice.” As he spoke at the curtain call.
