Some cruise lines, including Carnival, have announced that they plan to resume sailings this summer. As of right now, they plan to start cruises again on August 1, 2020. On the day of Carnival’s announcement, bookings went up 600% compared with numbers from last year!
Cruise Planners, an American Express Travel Representative released the report. They said the “increase in bookings is specific to the performance of Cruise Planners network of 2,500 travel advisors during the period and should not be considered indicative of sales performance for Carnival Cruise Line overall.”
Of course, the CDC is truly in charge here. They have issued a no-sail order starting in mid-March and have continued to extend it. They are working with cruise lines to make a safe plan to re-sail with passengers. So, if the CDC does not feel it is safe to sail, it will not be allowed.

The CDC said, “At this point in time, we do not have enough information to say when it will be safe for cruise ships to resume sailing. CDC will continue to work with cruise lines to ensure all necessary public health procedures are in place when cruise lines do begin regular sailing.”
