James Holzhauer Drops Cryptic Tweet, Did he Lose ‘Jeopardy!’ On Purpose?

James Holzhauer recently completed a long run on Jeopardy! where he almost broke the show’s all-time winnings record. He won over $2 million but came short of former contestant Ken Jenning’s winnings on the game show. Now, fans are wondering if James lost on purpose because he was done with Jeopardy! It might get tiring to be on the show for so long, even if you are winning so much!

Some people claim they saw James give up in his final episode. Chicago librarian Emma Boettcher beat James, but some claim he let her win. James shared a recent tweet that had fans buying into this theory. Read the tweets in question and develop your own theories.

The tweet was actually about Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck. Andrew abruptly retired and James shared his thoughts about it. James tweeted, “I hope to be as brave as Andrew Luck one day. Imagine reaching the pinnacle of the only job you’ve ever trained for, finding no joy in it, and having the guts to do the right thing for yourself even though millions of fans will hate you for it.”

Fans are speculating if James was already that brave. According to PEOPLE, “Maybe you already were that brave?” one fan replied, while another wrote, “wait is this why you lost jeopardy before passing Ken Jennings.”

James fired this back at the fans who questioned if he lost on purpose

He seems to love to respond back to fans on Twitter and is often sarcastic. He seemed to shut down the conspiracy theorists with this tweet: “New game: Imagine you pulled off the most dominant upset in @Jeopardy history and people won’t shut up about how the 32x champ must have let you win #JeopardyEmma.”

Luckily, James will be returning to Jeopardy! soon! He will be playing in the Tournament of Champions. It is a 10-day event that will air on November 4-15, 2019. We can’t wait to see James again and hope he has another impressive run!

When asked about his loss, he said this to The New York Times. “Nobody likes to lose. But I’m very proud of how I did, and I really exceeded my own expectations for the show, so I don’t feel bad about it.” What do you think about Jame’s streak on Jeopardy!?
