Over the weekend, Bindi Irwin posted a photo containing a sneak peek of her wedding gown. In the photo, we can see that the wedding dress is long-sleeve and lacy. She will be wearing the gown for her wedding to fiancé Chandler Powell next year.
She captions the photo, “I said yes to the dress 💍” appropriately donning her engagement ring in the picture as well. Powell also shares a sweet post in the excitement of their upcoming wedding next year. He posts a photo of them with a meerkat, saying, “Cannot wait to meer-y this girl.” Very punny!
Bindi first announces her engagement to Powell in July this year. He popped the question on her birthday of all days! She posts on social media, “On my birthday I said ‘yes’ & ‘forever’ to the love of my life. Chandler, close to 6 years ago I fell in love with you & every day since has been a whirlwind of adventure & true happiness. Here’s to a lifetime of friendship, purpose & unconditional love.”
Since the announcement, the Irwins have revealed that her brother, Robert, will be walking her down in the aisle in place of their late father, Steve Irwin. “I’m always so grateful that Robert is there, and he has been such a big part of my life and he’s always stepped up and been the one to give me a hug when I need it and encourage me forward in life,” Bindi tells Entertainment Tonight.
Bindi has also gone onto Access to speak about her engagement and how she’s happy that her fiancé and family get along so well. “I’m so lucky that I’ve found my person in life,” she says, sitting beside Robert and mom Terri. “And I’m also very lucky that my family loves him just as much as I do… [Chandler] put on those khakis and he’s never looked back.”
Chandler works at the Australia Zoo alongside the Irwins to keep Steve Irwin’s conservational legacy alive.
Recently, Bindi also pens an emotional note to her late father as wedding planning had just begun. She says, “Dad, You’d be so proud of Robert. He’s been such an amazing support during this new life chapter. I know you’d be beaming with pride when the time comes that he walks me down the aisle. I wish you could be here for these moments, but I know that your spirit lives on in us.”
He would certainly be very proud!
