While many people are canceling their travel plans and staying indoors amid a coronavirus outbreak, thousands of people got together to set a world record instead. In France, thousands of Smurf fans dressed up and set a Guinness World Record for the largest Smurf gathering. Last weekend, over 3,500 people came together, dressed in Smurf costumes. Just a day later, the French government has since banned gatherings like this of over 1,000 people for the time being. This is a precaution to help prevent the spread of coronavirus and other illnesses that are going around right now. One said, "We figured we wouldn’t worry and that as French people we wouldn’t give up on our attempt to break the record. And now we’re champions of the world!"
