This became her number one rule when planning Mother's Day after one year saw her "pretty sad" from spending the holiday "coordinating grandparent visits." As a result, "I didn’t get to do anything for myself." In place of festivities, she spent the occasion with "kids naps" and "hustle." One weary mother related to Wehner's plight, sharing, "This is my third mother's day as a mom and it's 100% about my mom and his mom. I haven't been celebrated yet." Discussing the backlash she got with CNN, Wehner noted, "I feel like a lot of people took it as I don’t see my mom or my mother-in-law, which just isn’t true."
