Final Person Charged In Matthew Perry’s Death Sentenced In Tragic Case

by Ruth A

Published May 28, 2026

The final criminal case connected to the 2023 overdose death of Matthew Perry has officially come to an end following the sentencing of his former live-in assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa. The sentencing closes a disturbing investigation that uncovered how multiple individuals played roles in supplying and administering ketamine to the beloved Friends star during the final weeks of his life.

Perry, who died on Oct. 28, 2023, had openly battled substance abuse for decades while also becoming one of television’s most recognizable actors through his role as Chandler Bing. His death shocked fans worldwide and led investigators to closely examine how he obtained the ketamine found in his system.

According to USA Today, a federal judge sentenced Kenneth Iwamasa to three years and five months in prison after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death. Prosecutors said Iwamasa had been administering ketamine injections to Perry inside the actor’s Los Angeles home using instructions and supplies provided by doctors and drug suppliers connected to the case.

The Matthew Perry investigation eventually resulted in charges against five people, including doctors, an addiction counselor, and alleged ketamine supplier Jasveen Sangha, sometimes referred to as the “Ketamine Queen.” Authorities stated that those involved knowingly violated medical and legal boundaries while continuing to supply the actor with the drug. Investigators also revealed that suspects allegedly used coded language and encrypted messaging apps to coordinate ketamine transactions in the weeks leading up to Perry’s death.

The Matthew Perry case became even more disturbing after investigators disclosed details about the actor’s final hours. According to court documents, Perry reportedly received three ketamine injections within a five-hour period on the day he died. Authorities said that shortly before his death, Perry allegedly asked Iwamasa to prepare the jacuzzi and give him “a big one,” referring to another ketamine injection. He was later found unresponsive in the hot tub at his Pacific Palisades home and pronounced dead shortly after emergency responders arrived.

Medical examiners ultimately ruled his death an accident caused primarily by the acute effects of ketamine, with drowning and other health factors also contributing. The heartbreaking details surrounding the case have reignited conversations about addiction, exploitation, and the dangers of substance misuse—particularly involving individuals with long public struggles battling dependency and mental health issues. For many fans, the legal proceedings have only added another painful layer to the loss of an actor who spent years openly trying to help others understand addiction through honesty about his own experiences.
