Bill and his Blood Brothers began in 2002 when guitarists Mike Zito and Albert Castiglia formed the group. They focused on blues-rock songs and covered lesser-known tracks by bands like The Kinks. Their path crossed with Bill Murray when they performed at the Murray Brothers’ Caddyshack Golf Tournament.

John Murray had booked the band for the event. When they played a song by the Rascals, a favorite of Bill, he jumped on stage without planning it. That moment changed the group’s direction. He kept performing with them and later became a permanent member of what fans now call the Bill Murray Band. He said each musician brings a different energy, and that challenge keeps him excited each night.
