The Robertson family has been making headlines lately, particularly due to the changes taking place within the Duck Dynasty household. John Godwin recently shared the news of his retirement after 25 years on the iconic show. Amid this, the family patriarch Phil Robertson has taken the spotlight due to his health diagnosis.
In a recent episode of the Unashamed podcast, Jase Robertson shared that his father, Phil, is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Jase explained on the podcast’s 1000th episode that doctors have confirmed that Phil is also dealing with a blood disease that is causing other problems throughout his body.
Phil Robertson officially retiring from ‘Duck Dynasty’ following Alzheimer’s diagnosis
Duck Dynasty fans have taken to social media with messages of encouragement and support for the Robertson family. One of many offered prayers for Phil, his medical team, his wife Miss Kay, and the entire Duck Dynasty family.
Some were more concerned about his influence and legacy, so they expressed admiration and gratitude instead. “Phil, you are one of the most influential people of the last decade! (I know you won’t take the credit) God knew exactly who he was picking when he called you. We are thankful for you and your family. We are praying for better health, sir!” someone gushed.
How is Phil Robertson doing now?
Jase got candid about how difficult it has been for his father to come to terms with his condition as he struggles with simple daily tasks. Jase recalled how he explained to Phil that his physical pain and memory loss were significant. Despite this, Phil’s spirit remains strong even though he can hardly engage in conversations now.
As Phil’s health declines, Jase shared that the family is doing everything possible to make him comfortable and juggle his failing memory. His team of doctors have confirmed there’s no cure for his condition, so he can only be managed.
