Kieran Culkin lost his sister, Dakota Culkin, nearly two decades ago after she was hit by a car in Los Angeles. Although it has been a while since the unfortunate incident, it still feels fresh to Kieran, who recently shared his thoughts about dealing with the loss so far.
The 42-year-old visited his family’s apartment building in Manhattan, New York, and he shared his experience with CBS Sunday Morning. He recalled being responsible for his siblings and putting them first as they tried to survive in the cramped living space.
Kieran Culkin remembers his late sibling Dakota Culkin
Kieran admitted he lost a part of himself when Dakota died, as all of his siblings felt like a piece of him growing up. As the oldest, he used to stand at the door and count as they filed into the house before locking the doors. He also had to stay awake until they all slept off.
The actor disclosed that his Succession character, Roman, helped him pay tribute to his sister as they shared similarities. He noted that her absence has never become easier as he misses her jokes and how much she made fun of him.
