A year has passed since Matthew Perry died from a ketamine overdose, and his supporters are reminiscing about the fun personality he displayed as Chandler Bing in Friends. An insider who worked with the late star in the 2021 reunion recalled how excited he was on set.
The source said Perry was giggling in between takes as they filmed the special with co-stars Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Courteney Cox. Perry could hardly sit still as he showed up in a classic black suit and tie with a blue shirt.
Matthew Perry at the 2021 ‘Friends’ reunion: giggling with ‘friends’
The cast of Friends built a true friendship clique beyond the classic after it ended in 2004. The source testified of their close bond as they supported Perry while he slept off on the couch during filming. He reportedly had an emergency dental surgery before the event and had yet to fully recover.
Perry could have stayed home instead; however, he did not want to mess up the special moment for the show’s fans. It was a nostalgic time as the group revisited the set at Warner Bros Studios in California while host James Corden anchored the sessions.
Matthew Perry’s death is still under investigation
The authorities are still making findings about Perry’s death after apprehending five suspects for conspiring to provide him with drugs in exchange for thousands of dollars. The sitcom star claimed to have been drug-free after spending millions on rehab and treatment. However, large amounts of ketamine were found in his system at death.
Perry admitted his substance abuse began at 14 but got worse after he got into Hollywood. He went from taking alcohol to taking up to 55 painkillers in a day while filming Friends. Amid his struggles, he committed to helping other addicts, including Kelly Osbourne and Hank Azaria, and his family recently established the Matthew Perry Foundation to continue his good work.
