Marilyn Monroe’s enduring fame might make it seem like we’re already familiar with every detail of her life, from her marriages to her iconic red lipstick shade. However, her skincare regimen, which was a mystery, has finally been unveiled.
Although the late actress had the opportunity to share her beauty tips nevertheless, an original letter penned by her dermatologist, Erno Laszlo, which outlines the exact skincare products Monroe should apply in her morning and evening routines, along with step-by-step instructions, has now been found. Interestingly, some of the products are still available for purchase till now.
Marilyn Monroe’s skincare regimen revealed
In the letter addressed to Mrs. Marilyn Monroe Miller dated March 17, 1959, Dr. Laszlo was as follows. In the morning, Monroe was to cleanse her face and neck thoroughly using warm water and the Active Phelityl Soap (now known as the Phelityl Cleansing Bar). Afterward, she was to apply Erno Laszlo’s Shake-It Tinted Skin Treatment in Neutral to her entire face, followed by pHelitone under the eyes and Duo-Phase Face Powder to the whole face and neck.

For formal occasions, which likely referred to film premieres and red-carpet events, the actress was directed to use pHelitone on her entire face, under her eyes and neck, and decollete. This was to be followed by the application of Duo-Phase Face Powder. As for her evening routine, Monroe was advised to put on Active Phelityl Oil on her entire face, and once it dried, she was to apply Active Phelityl Cream and Controlling Lotion.
