Kelly Preston has died following a two-year private battle with breast cancer. She was only 57 years old.
A family representative released a statement. It read, “On the morning of July 12, 2020, Kelly Preston, adored wife and mother, passed away following a two-year battle with breast cancer. Choosing to keep her fight private, she had been undergoing medical treatment for some time, supported by her closest family and friends.”

The statement continued, “She was a bright, beautiful and loving soul who cared deeply about others and who brought life to everything she touched. Her family asks for your understanding of their need for privacy at this time.”

She was born Kelly Kamalelehua Smith on October 13, 1962, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Kelly studied acting and shortly after appeared in her first movie role in 1985. She continued to appear in television shows and movies including For Love and Honor, SpaceCamp, Jerry Maguire, and For Love of the Game. In addition, her final role was in John Travolta’s film Gotti, where she played his wife on-screen as well.

Kelly and John got married in 1991 and soon had their first son Jett. Last year, they celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary. Her last Instagram post was a tribute to John on Father’s Day. She wrote, “Happy Father’s Day to the best one I know, we love you.”
Kelly is survived by her husband John Travolta and their children, Ella, 20, and Benjamin, 9. Their son Jett died in 2009 at the age of 16.
