Sylvester Stallone may be 80 years old, but the Hollywood legend isn’t ready to leave the spotlight just yet. The Rocky star recently revealed a surprisingly personal reason for delaying his retirement, and it has nothing to do with another action movie or television project.
According to AOL, during an October 13 appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, the actor joked that his eldest daughter Sophia’s upcoming wedding would keep him working. The 30-year-old recently announced her engagement to Michael Sheehan, giving the Stallone family another exciting milestone to celebrate. However, her famous father couldn’t resist making a humorous comment about the potential wedding expenses.

When Kelly Ripa asked how much he would contribute to Sophia’s wedding, Stallone joked, “Oh, man, it’s almost embarrassing to say—but I can’t retire.” His response drew laughter, though he insisted he was serious. While he didn’t reveal the cost, his remarks suggested the wedding could be an expensive celebration.

The proud father also spoke warmly about his future son-in-law, describing Sheehan as a wonderful man. He revealed that Michael followed tradition by asking for his blessing before proposing to Sophia. Despite his intimidating reputation as an action star, Stallone admired the young man’s confidence. He also joked that his wife, Jennifer Flavin, needed to be present as a referee during their conversation.
