Jodie Sweetin has shared some welcome news about her former Full House co-star Dave Coulier, eight months after he announced that his tongue cancer was in remission. The 67-year-old actor, beloved for portraying Joey Gladstone on the classic sitcom, has faced two cancer diagnoses in recent years, making the latest update particularly meaningful for longtime fans.
According to People, Sweetin, 44, opened up about her onscreen uncle’s recovery while attending the Scleroderma Research Foundation’s Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine fundraiser in Beverly Hills on Tuesday, October 13. Although Coulier couldn’t attend the event, his former castmates came together to celebrate their enduring friendship and honor the legacy of their late co-star Bob Saget.
Jodie Sweetin Shares Positive Dave Coulier Health Update
Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE, Sweetin reassured fans that Coulier is doing well following his difficult health journey. “He’s doing great,” she said, recalling a recent arts fundraiser they attended in Detroit called The Coney. She also revealed that she and Andrea Barber, who played Kimmy Gibbler on Full House, recently spent a weekend at Coulier’s home. Their visit offered an opportunity to reconnect and enjoy ordinary moments together after his challenging cancer treatments.

The actress acknowledged that her longtime friend had endured a difficult experience, explaining that even sharing morning coffee with him carried special meaning. Coulier first announced his stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis in November 2024 and entered remission five months later. However, another health challenge followed in December 2025 when he revealed a tongue cancer diagnosis. Fortunately, the actor announced in February 2026 that he was in remission from the second cancer as well.
‘Full House’ Cast Maintains Close Friendship Decades After the Sitcom Ended

Beyond discussing Coulier’s recovery, Sweetin reflected on the remarkable bond the cast has maintained since Full House ended in 1995. “We’re still super close,” she told PEOPLE, joking that their friendship might even seem unusually strong to outsiders. The actress emphasized that the performers consider themselves family, despite the decades that have passed since they portrayed the beloved Tanner household. Their friendship remains evident through frequent reunions, charitable appearances, and time spent together away from the spotlight.
Meanwhile, Coulier participated in the Beverly Hills fundraiser through a prerecorded video congratulating John Stamos, who received the Bob Saget Legacy Award for supporting scleroderma research. The comedian even delivered a playful Stamos impression, bringing some familiar Full House humor to the occasion. Additionally, several cast members, including Sweetin, Barber, Stamos, Candace Cameron Bure, and Lori Loughlin, are preparing to reunite at 90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut, from October 16 through 19. For viewers who grew up watching Joey’s jokes and the Tanner family’s adventures, the encouraging news about Coulier offers another reason to celebrate the friendships that have endured beyond the television screen.
