Rick Springfield gave fans plenty to talk about during a recent Las Vegas concert. The rocker, who turned 77 on Aug. 23, took the stage at the Palms Casino Resort shirtless and powered through “Jessie’s Girl” with the same energy that helped make the song a defining hit of the early 1980s.
According to Entertainment Weekly, footage from the Rick Springfield concert quickly gained attention online, not only because of the nostalgic song choice but also because of Springfield’s remarkably fit appearance. Fans flooded social media with comments about how youthful he looked, with some joking that he seemed to have stepped straight out of 1981.

Springfield has made shirtless performances part of his shows throughout the summer, but the latest Las Vegas clip especially caught viewers’ attention. As he sang his 1981 hit, fans focused almost as much on his defined physique as they did on the familiar chorus. Some joked about a fountain of youth, while others compared his appearance to fellow famously fit rocker Lenny Kravitz.
The singer has explained that his fitness comes from consistency rather than any single secret. In 2025, Springfield told PEOPLE that he exercises every day and described performing with his band as a two-hour aerobic workout. While traveling, he frequently visits Planet Fitness locations, giving him a dependable place to keep up his routine wherever the tour takes him.
His Touring Lifestyle Has Changed Since the ’80s
Springfield has also changed his touring habits with age. Instead of partying, he now prioritizes sleep, exercise, and healthy food. He follows a mostly pescatarian diet, avoids dairy, and focuses on reducing inflammation. He has also cut back heavily on alcohol, choices that help him maintain the stamina for full rock shows.
Springfield even found inspiration at the gym in 2025 when he saw 99-year-old Dick Van Dyke working through several machines before finishing with a dance step. Still, the latest Rick Springfield concert proves he has plenty of energy himself. More than four decades after “Jessie’s Girl,” he continues performing with enthusiasm, humor, and unmistakable rock-star presence.
