More than three decades after Michael Landon’s passing, Melissa Gilbert is still remembering the man who helped shape both her career and her life. The actress, who played Laura Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie, recently shared a heartfelt tribute marking the 35th anniversary of her beloved co-star’s death.

According to People, for generations of fans, Landon will always be remembered as Charles Ingalls, the loving father at the center of the classic television series. But for Gilbert, he was much more than an on-screen dad. He was a mentor, collaborator, and lifelong friend whose influence continues to guide her years later.

One of Gilbert’s fondest memories involved spending time with Landon and his family away from the set. She recalled watching him shower his children with affection and said he always welcomed her as though she were part of the family. Those experiences left a lasting impression that went far beyond acting lessons or television success.

Looking back on Michael Landon’s death, Gilbert admitted she still finds herself wondering what advice he would offer in difficult moments. She said she misses his laughter, warmth, and unique perspective, adding that the world could still benefit from his creativity today. She also sent love to Landon’s children, remembering the close bond they all shared.
