Timothy Busfield, the veteran actor known for roles in Thirtysomething and The West Wing, now faces serious legal trouble in New Mexico. A grand jury has indicted Timothy Busfield on multiple child sex abuse charges, marking a significant development in a case that has drawn national attention.
According to Fox News, Timothy Busfield faces four counts of criminal sexual contact of a child. The indictment follows earlier charges filed in January, when authorities first took the 68-year-old actor into custody after issuing an arrest warrant related to alleged misconduct.
Timothy Busfield Faces Four Criminal Counts

A New Mexico grand jury formally charged Busfield with four counts of criminal sexual contact of a child. District Attorney Sam Bregman emphasized in a public statement that protecting children remains a top priority for his office and pledged to pursue justice for victims.

Authorities previously arrested Busfield on Jan. 13 after issuing a warrant connected to allegations that stem from his time directing the television series The Cleaning Lady. Court documents state that two 11-year-old twins accused the director of inappropriate contact while on set. After his arrest, officials initially held him without bail on earlier counts, including criminal sexual contact of a minor and child abuse.
Timothy Busfield Denies Allegations As Case Moves Forward

Busfield has denied the accusations and surrendered to authorities while asserting his intention to clear his name. His attorney, Larry Stein, told Fox News that the indictment “was not unexpected” and argued that the prosecution’s case “cannot be proven at trial.” Stein further claimed the evidence presented during the detention hearing revealed “fatal weaknesses” in the state’s case.

A judge later released Busfield on his own recognizance with conditions. He must appear at all future court proceedings, avoid contact with children under 18, and refrain from discussing the case with witnesses. As the legal process continues, the charges remain allegations, and the court will ultimately determine the outcome.
