Saturday Night Live recently honored filmmaker Rob Reiner in a touching tribute. The nod came less than a week after Reiner and his wife, Michele, were tragically killed by their son. The gesture highlighted how SNL continues to recognize cultural icons, even amid heartbreaking circumstances.

During the Dec. 20 episode, a tribute card appeared just before the show’s goodnight segment. The card featured a throwback photo of Rob, who had hosted the third episode of SNL back in October 1975. The episode also marked the final 2025 show, with Ariana Grande as host and Cher as the musical guest.

The acknowledgment on SNL came at a somber moment for the Reiner family. Rob and Michele’s children, Jake and Romy, spoke about the “horrific and devastating loss of our parents,” highlighting the personal pain behind the public mourning, according to People. The tribute was brief but deeply meaningful, celebrating both his career and life.
