Singer Carnie Wilson faced a frightening health setback after undergoing lap-band removal surgery. The 57-year-old Wilson Phillips star revealed in a candid Instagram video that she had been hospitalized due to complications but is now recovering.
Carnie Wilson explained that while the surgery itself was successful, her recovery quickly became more difficult. She experienced severe swelling in her legs, which led to dangerously high blood pressure. Doctors admitted her back into the hospital, where they adjusted her medication. “It was very scary, but after a couple of days there, we changed the meds. And the swelling has gone down and, like, almost gone,” she shared.

According to People, Wilson assured fans that she is “finally over this hump, recovering from my lap-band surgery, lap-band removal.” She admitted that recovery felt “intense,” but she expressed deep gratitude toward her medical team and supporters. “I am just so, so lucky to have gotten through this,” she said.
Doctors also discovered an ulcer and an obstruction caused by food trapped in the lap band. Though the news unsettled her, Wilson emphasized her relief. “It makes me want to barf, but anyway, I’m so grateful right now and so lucky,” she explained. Her focus now is on resting and regaining strength.
A Difficult Year For Carnie Wilson
This health scare comes during an already challenging year for Wilson, whose father, Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson, died earlier in 2025. She acknowledged that stress likely contributed to her condition. “It doesn’t surprise me with all the stress I’ve had this year,” she said after learning of the ulcer.
Still, Carnie highlighted the lessons she has drawn from the experience. “It really put a new perspective on some health things for me,” she explained. With her trademark honesty, she reminded fans that while the journey was frightening, she feels lucky to be on the mend. For many, her resilience continues to inspire both as an artist and as a person confronting life’s challenges head-on.
