On the 28th anniversary of Princess Diana’s passing, her brother, Charles Spencer, honored her in a quiet but meaningful way. He shared a photo on Instagram of fresh flowers from the gardens of Althorp Estate, where Diana is buried. His caption read simply, “Always an impossible day.”

The post included a bouquet of white and pink roses as well as an image of the private island that holds her grave. For Princess Diana’s brother, these annual gestures reflect both loss and love. They show how he continues to carry her memory, even decades after the tragic accident in Paris in 1997.

Charles Spencer, now 61, explained in his post, “Flowers we cut this morning from Althorp’s gardens for the Island.” His words carried deep emotion, yet he kept the tone simple. By sharing the moment, Princess Diana’s brother offered the public a glimpse of how he remembers her, away from cameras and ceremony.

According to People, after Diana’s death, Charles chose the island of Althorp as her final resting place. He wanted a place that would stay private and peaceful. He also wanted her sons, William and Harry, to have space to visit their mother without interruption.

That choice has remained important for nearly three decades. In his 1998 book Althorp: The Story of an English House, Charles explained that the “beauty and tranquility” of the gardens made them the right place. For Princess Diana’s brother, the island not only protects her privacy but also allows family members to mourn in peace.

Today, the grave itself stays closed to the public. However, a memorial built on the estate in 1998 gives admirers a place to pay their respects. This balance keeps Diana’s memory alive while still guarding her privacy. It also ensures that her legacy, carefully protected by Princess Diana’s brother, continues to inspire both family and fans.
