Valerie Bertinelli Stuns In New Bikini Mirror Photo, Shuts Down Body Shamers With Confidence

Valerie Bertinelli is unmoved by critics as she celebrates her self-acceptance journey. The 64-year-old actress and TV personality recently posted a mirror selfie in a bikini while standing in a Manhattan hotel bathroom, prepping to color her roots on a Monday night. But the real message was about embracing the body she lives in today.

Valerie shared the post with her Instagram followers, showing herself in an unfiltered, vulnerable moment. While some fans applauded her honesty and bravery, others were not as kind. But the actress did not back down. In another post the following day, she directly addressed the backlash, clarifying that she no longer seeks approval.

Valerie’s recent posts reflect her ongoing commitment to healing her relationship with her body, a struggle she has often spoken about. From a young age, she was made to feel that her appearance defined her worth. Like many women in the limelight, she prioritized toxic beauty standards, believing that her value hinged on how closely she resembled a younger, thinner version of herself.

But today, Valerie is changing that narrative. She told fans that while her body is no longer the one she had in her twenties, it tells a story of growth, strength, and survival. She acknowledged the emotional and physical challenges she has faced and emphasized that she would not trade her current self for the body she once judged so harshly.

Response to critics

Valerie Bertinelli also addressed the criticism. In the post, she reminded viewers that the harsh words often hurled online say more about the person speaking them than the target. Then, she encouraged fans to show themselves the same kindness they might withhold from others.

Earlier this year, the actress posted a similar message alongside a photo revealing her current weight, challenging outdated notions of health and beauty. Valerie noted that numbers on a scale no longer define her. Instead, she focuses on who she is. The actress acknowledged that she is not trying to fit into anyone else’s box or be who she is not, and that defiance has struck a chord.
