Shannen Doherty’s loved ones miss her greatly. On April 12th, family and friends of the late actress remembered her on what would have been her 54th birthday. Her close friends, including Sarah Michelle Gellar and Rose McGowan, marked the bittersweet day with heartfelt messages, honoring the Charmed star, who died in July 2024 after a long and public battle with breast cancer.
Gellar posted a series of memories on Instagram, celebrating their decades-long friendship with Doherty. One of the pictures included a throwback photo of the pair smiling together, taken just before a birthday celebration. Another was a recent video of Shannen blowing out candles at a small gathering surrounded by friends.

Sarah Michelle Gellar’s birthday falls just two days after Doherty’s, and she has often celebrated alongside her friend over the years. This year, she continued the tradition alone, choosing instead to celebrate Doherty’s memory. Rose McGowan also acknowledged the day with her own tribute, sharing an image that read “Happy Birthday Shannen Doherty,” with a message expressing how deeply her friend is missed.
Even though McGowan and Doherty did not appear together on Charmed, the two developed a close bond in the years after the show. Following Doherty’s death last year, Gellar and McGowan reflected on the strength and vulnerability that defined her. McGowan shared that getting to know Doherty later in life was a gift, describing her as someone who chose compassion in a world that often tried to divide them.
