Further findings suggest that Hackman may have suffered a fatal heart attack, and upon discovering his lifeless body, Arakawa may have taken her own life out of distress. Bottles of prescription medication were also found around her, indicating a possible overdose.
Another factor under investigation is whether Arakawa had a medical emergency prior to Hackman, who became so distraught that he died of a heart attack. Both corpses were said to have been discovered in different areas of the house. Arakawa’s was in the bathroom, while Hackman’s was found in the mudroom.
More questions come up as investigations continue
Reports say Arakawa’s body had already begun to mummify by the time it was discovered, raising questions about the exact timeline of the deaths. This has led to yet another theory that one of them may have passed away significantly earlier than initially believed.
TMZ confirmed that the couple had been deceased for at least a day before being found. Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza emphasized the importance of a thorough and careful investigation to conclude correctly. While investigators do their job, the Oscars acknowledged him over the weekend. “This week our community lost a giant, and I lost a dear friend: Gene Hackman,” Morgan Freeman said, leading the heartfelt tribute.
