Chris Rock appeared on Saturday Night Live’s latest episode as a fourth-time host, and he entertained the audience by playing a doctor who accidentally removes a patient’s gallbladder instead of their appendix. Also joining Chris Rock on SNL was musical guest Gracie Abrams. Things took an interesting twist when Chris Rock’s patient sat up after the operation, showing himself to be Adam Sandler. While complaining to other staff about the surgery gone wrong, he starts to bleed so badly that he covered the doctors in blood.
Adam Sandler’s appearance was a surprise for Chris Rock, who appeared on SNL with him in the ‘90s. They also collaborated on movies like The Longest Yard, The Grown Up series, and The Week Off in the 2000s and 2010s, after which they moved on to other projects. After their work relationship, Adam Sandler made his debut as SNL host, after which he starred in more hit movies and Netflix productions. Like Adam Sandler, Chris Rock was also into his showbiz career, making more movies and earning accolades as his career progressed.
Chris Rock does more hilarious sketches on ‘SNL’
Last Saturday’s episode saw a rendition of “That’s So True” by Gracie, which is a song from her The Secret Us You Balm, while Chris Rock also participated in more SNL sketches, like one where he portrayed Santa Claus’ elf in a shopping mall, and another where he went on a blind date with Ego Nwodim.
He lies to Ego that he is Henry McAdams, the man she has been waiting for; however, she spots loopholes as they communicate, the final straw being when “Henry” outrightly asks that they go have sex in his car parked outside. After several attempts to convince Ego to get down with him, even after she spots his wedding ring, Chris Rock exits the scene and enters Marcello Hernandez, who is Ego’s actual date.
In recent times, the likes of Marcello, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker got promoted from being featured players to the main cast in two years. As SNL hits its 50th season, the likes of Punkie Johnson, Chloe Troast, and Molly Kearney have also left the show. Viewers will be seeing more of Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim, and Jane Wickline, who have been included in the roster going forward.
Fans react as Adam Sandler surprises Chris Rock on ‘SNL’
The SNL snippet showing the scene where Adam Sandler pops up on Chris Rock had fans gushing about the wholesome reunion on social media. “Sometimes when a sketch goes off the rails, it’s far funnier than the OG plan. This was one of those times. HILARIOUS!” someone exclaimed, while another commended the production for introducing Adam Sandler creatively. “Now THIS is how you reveal a special guest!” they wrote.
The end of Adam Sandler’s sketch was a comedic closer, as he reveals to Chris Rock and his team of surgeons that he has a fortune somewhere. While attempting to reveal the location of his stack of money, Adam Sandler suddenly died, to Chris Rock’s dismay.
The surgeons attempt to find out what went wrong, only to realize that Sarah Sherman unplugged what is likely to be his life support device while trying to charge her AirPods, and that was it. “I had a ‘Leslie’ at work, her name was Laura, took a long time for finally someone dare to fire her. We were all relieved when she was gone. I laughed so hard with this skit, it brought me memories,” someone penned, while a doctor fan joked about her experience. “As a Dr who assisted with surgeries can confirm everyone in the OR will hate you if you make a mistake that delays everyone. I’ve been the hated one and the one hating many times,” they said.
