Ted Danson said he often gets mistaken for a fellow actor; however, he does not see how they look alike. He told the show host and audience on Friday’s episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show that his celebrity doppelgänger was Tony Danza, who was also a sensation in the ‘80s and ‘90s.
Ted explained that their similar names may have caused the confusion, which went on for about five years. The clip of Ted’s revelation made it to social media, and fans were on either side of the debate, while some remained indifferent.
Who is Ted Danson’s celebrity lookalike?
Tony rocks his gray hair and a clean shave, which is one of the few similarities he shares with Ted. They also favor similar styles, often appearing in sharp suits or a tuxedo. They both shot to fame as sitcom stars in the mid-80s.
Ted is popular for playing Sam Malone in Cheers, while Tony’s famous character Tony Micelli from Who’s The Boss? was a fan-favorite. Their characters also shared a baseball background, with Malone retiring to run a bar, and Micelli working as a housekeeper.
Ted Danson recalls his first time learning about his lookalike
Ted told host Jennifer Hudson that he was in New York for the first time, and some construction workers thought he was Tony. They thought he was being rude because he did not turn to answer; meanwhile, he was just not Tony. He did not explain, just like another time when he had to sign an autograph as Tony.
The 76-year-old recently starred in the Netflix comedy series A Man on the Inside by Michael Schur, while his alleged doppelgänger is currently doing a series of his Sinatra & Stories show in New York City, which is a tribute to the late singer. He has yet to respond to the lookalike conversation or mention having Ted’s kind of encounters.
