Martha Stewart has been doing media rounds to promote her latest 100th cookbook titled Martha: The Cookbook: 100 Favorite Recipes, with Lessons and Stories from My Kitchen, and she made a stop at Drew Barrymore’s daytime TV show on Tuesday.
The chat was going on nicely until Drew mischievously asked Martha about what makes her soft and gooey. While at it, the 49-year-old host got too close to Martha and was met with a shocking reaction from the lifestyle guru.
Martha Stewart pushes Drew Barrymore away during interview
At first, Martha does not understand what Drew means by “soft and gooey,” and the latter hinted that it was about intimate moments. Drew began stroking Martha’s back and arm, and the studio audience found it funny. The cookbook author could not bear the touchy-feely and pushed Drew off, noting that she is the wrong gender for such acts.
It is not Drew’s first time receiving rebuke for being accused of overly touchy as she previously addressed complaints from viewers online. She promised to work on it, but it appears she is still having a hard time. Drew previously explained that touching her guests was her of making them feel good and comfortable, but not everyone sees it that way.
Drew Barrymore apologizes to the affected guests
Drew apologized to those she may have touched beyond their liking in the past, adding that she is learning other ways to express herself. She once sat on Natasha Lyonne’s lap and put her feet on Kathryn Hahn, though both ladies seemed just fine with it.
Martha, on the other hand, is known for her no-nonsense nature— as discussed in her newly released Netflix documentary, Martha, hence her reaction to Drew was unsurprising. The lifestyle guru’s 100th cookbook hit the shelves on November 12 and is reportedly selling fast.
