Adele had an unforgettable experience while singing “When We Were Young” at her Weekends with Adele Las Vegas residency show. Adele wore a blonde wig, a silver jacket, and a matching necklace to depict Meryl Streep’s Death Becomes Her character, Madeline Ashton, only to see the actress in the crowd.
Adele was a little starstruck as she approached Meryl, who bowed in response after they exchanged greetings. The performance continued, but without Adele pausing again to say “I love you” to the Oscar-winning actress.
Adele shared her own special moment with Celine Dion
About a week ago, Adele got teary-eyed while singing “Easy On Me” after she spotted Celine Dion in the crowd at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The 36-year-old approached Dion for a hug amid the cheering crowd, after which she turned to call the renowned singer one of her favorite people of all time.
Adele acknowledged that the Colosseum was built for Dion about two decades ago during her own residency, “A New Day,” noting that she has a picture of the star she touches before every performance. It was a full-circle moment for both women, who have earned multiple Grammy Awards throughout their careers.
Fans react to Meryl Streep’s surprise attendance
A clip showing the moment Adele spotted Meryl made it to Instagram via a fan page, tagging it a “simply iconic” scene. Fans took to the comments with praise for both ladies, while some wished they were present. “Did you all see how Meryl was in pure awe of Adele!?” someone asked.
A second fan wished the tickets to Adele’s Weekend shows were cheaper, as they could not afford the $2,000 for regular seats. “Legend…modest and very observant It is rare for the singer to see the faces of the audience, she looks in the face of the audience and does not lose focus in singing,” another commended Adele.
