Andrew Ridgeley was popular in the ‘80s as one half of Wham!, the other being George Michael, as a teenager. After they split in the mid-’80s, he pursued a solo career as a singer-songwriter before reclining away from the spotlight for good.
The 61-year-old recently appeared on Magic FM with broadcaster Sonali Shah, who shared photos from their time together on social media, showing Andrew’s new look decades after stardom. While on air, they discussed the classic “Careless Whisper” for a documentary.
Andrew Ridgeley looks worlds different now
Shah accompanied the mid-interview snaps with the caption, “40 years after its first release, we look back at the story behind this iconic song and explore its legacy with rare audio and exclusive interviews.” Andrew was noticeably different with short white hair, unlike his rich dark locks in his youth.
He also looked slim and fit and kept things casual with a black zip-up sweater and jeans. Fans were elated to see the pop star and shared their thoughts in Shah’s comments section. “This was such a lovely interview to go back in time to relive the great time of the 80s,” someone gushed.
Life after ‘Wham!’
After relishing star status for about a decade, Andrew settled in Cornwall with a net worth of £30 million from his successful career. He spends time raising funds for charity, mostly participating in the Dallaglio Cycle Slam to help youths via Rugby. Andrew has also discussed his love life recently, noting that he is not looking to settle down soon or commit to a monogamous setting.
Andrew broke his decades of silence in 2016 when his ex-bandmate George died during Christmas of 2016. He paid tribute to George, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year. During George’s lifetime, they attempted reunion a few times, with Andrew reportedly withdrawing last minute in 2005.
