Willie Nelson is still very much on the road in his nineties, as he recently graced presidential candidate Kamala Harris’ rally in Houston, Texas. The event took place at Shell Energy Stadium, with other celebrities like Beyoncé and her mother Tina Knowles, Jessica Alba and Kelly Rowland present.
Willie showed up looking fit and ready to play in his signature braids, red headband, and his beloved Martin N-20 classical acoustic guitar Trigger. Fans were shocked to see the 91-year-old still full of energy and flocked to social media to gush about his performance.
Fans commend Willie Nelson for his performance at 91
Willie did two of his songs, “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys,” and “On the Road Again” at the ceremony, which was aimed at discussing reproductive freedom, specifically for women. Fans ran to social media to support the US Vice President with snippets of Willie passionately performing.
Some got curious about how much Willie got paid for his appearance, and some argued he did not need money to do the right thing. “I’m speechless to hear Willie bringing out trigger to playing ‘don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys,’” another gushed.

Is Willie Nelson retiring soon?
Willie is showing no signs of slowing down as he still tours in 2024, and is set to release his 76th studio album Last Leaf On the Tree this November. More lineups including a revised version of 1962’s “The Ghost,” and a collaboration with his son Micah Nelson are also ready for listening.
He joked in the past that his guitar might determine his retirement, and he would not quit until Trigger goes. The father of eight is reportedly scared of hanging his boots because he fears he would start to pass away once he does. His attempts to rest in the past have also failed as he ends up doing what he loves— performing, over and over.
