Minutes before shocking the world with her breathtaking 2024 Paris Olympics performance, Celine Dion shared a touching embrace with her first son, René-Charles Angélil, while he fought back tears. Thankfully, the moment was caught on camera, and she soon made it to social media, making her comeback even more personal and special.
Dion followed up the opening night with a statement expressing gratitude to René-Charles. She called him her anchor, noting that his supportive presence that day meant the world to her. The brief hug was a glimpse into how much they have shared through Dion’s trying times in the last couple of years.

Fans were deeply moved by the show of love and understanding between Dion and her son, who is the first of her three children from her marriage to the late René Angélil. “I can’t stand all of this. I miss you so much already,” someone exclaimed.

One of Dion’s followers commended her effort and advised her to rest because her legacy is eternal. “Enjoy your life. Enjoy your children. Don’t worry about show marathons. It’s done,” they said. “So inspiring. So real and raw. Vulnerable and vibrant. Truly a class act. You sang as if you had not ever endured any adversity or health issues! You, are simply the BEST!!!!” another gushed.
Dion admitted that her sons, including twins Nelson and Eddy, have been her driving force since she was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in 2022. She recalled when they began to notice her illness and her having to cover it up because she did not want them to be terrified about losing another parent.
The 56-year-old has been parenting alone since losing her husband to throat cancer in 2016. She has since remained single and even admits to feeling his presence sometimes and seeing signs from him. She told PEOPLE earlier this year that she still considers the late producer her husband to this day.
