Tori Spelling has been grieving the death of her friend and co-star Shannen Doherty since mid-July when she learned about the incident in bed. Tori recalled getting incessant calls that Sunday morning while being cozied up with two of her kids.
She shared the unforgettable moment with listeners of her MisSPELLING podcast, noting that she immediately predicted what had happened. She looked back on their time together and the disagreement that made them estranged for years until they agreed to stop being silly.
Tori noted that Shannen was underrated during her career run, with a story to inspire those who are contemplating giving up. She was grateful to have experienced a love like Shannen’s despite their concerning age difference.
Both ladies first met as teenagers during the filming of the pilot episode of Beverly Hills, 90210. She recalled being warmly received by Shannen and remains grateful for her mentorship and guardianship in those years.
Tori took to Instagram shortly after the news of Shannen’s passing with a lengthy caption and throwback photos of herself and access. “Shan… I’ll carry the torch on. Take on my power! And, I’ll stay rebellious for you. Love you with all my heart. Always,” she said.
Fans joined the 51-year-old to grieve and recall nice things about Shannen before going about their day. “I feel like I have a true glimpse into your relationship with her. My deepest condolences,” a fan wrote. “It is so evident that Shan was an amazing person and your friendship is a testament to that,” another quipped.
