WATCH: Stevie Nicks Pay Tribute To Christine McVie Alongside Pop Superstar

Christine McVie would have turned 81 on the 12th of July had she not died from a stroke in 2022. She received tribute from her friend and Fleetwood Mac frontman Stevie Nicks, who performed one of her hit songs with Harry Styles at the BST Hyde Park headline show.

Stevie asked Harry to come onstage while singing “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” and “Landslide,” noting that she shares a beautiful bond with the former One Direction star. It was not their first time sharing a stage, as they did during 2019’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony.

As she called Harry up, Stevie got vulnerable about the grief she faced due to McVie’s passing, noting that it was still difficult singing about her two years later. McVie also battled cancer, which was listed as the secondary cause of her death. The specific type of cancer was not revealed since professionals were unable to detect the origin of the ravaging cells.

After McVie was confirmed dead, Fleetwood Mac issued a tribute, mentioning that McVie was surrounded by family when she breathed her last. They acknowledged her unique talent, calling her the best kind of friend and a special talent. Stevie specifically called McVie her soul mate, having shared similar interests in many things.

Harry praises Stevie

At the 2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the Barclays Center in New York, Harry praised Stevie’s hard work and diligence, which earned her a spot in history as the first female artist inductee of the Hall of Fame. Though 76, Stevie remains active, performing songs and remaining relevant across multiple generations.

Harry gushed about Stevie’s hospitality, thanking her for providing advice, food, warmth, or just a listening ear when he needed it. He described her music as one that evokes contrasting emotions at the same time, calling Stevie a role model and beacon to younger singers like himself.
