Toby Keith would have turned 63 earlier this week if he were still alive, but this did not stop his second daughter Krystal Keith from wishing him a happy birthday. The 38-year-old took to Instagram with a photo of Toby holding a card that read “keep smiling.” True to the words, he had on a warm smile while rocking a jersey, a white baseball hat and a pair of sunglasses.
Krystal admitted to missing her late dad “like crazy” and hoped he was “playin’ it sweet in heaven today.” The post received thousands of likes and several comments from her followers, who joined her in paying tribute to the late music icon.

Another assured Krystal that her dad is “playing sweet music in heaven” and is truly missed by his fans. “We know he was one of the best all time Country Artist & the best performers…He was definitely my favorite country singer. Sending Love, Thoughts & Prayers,” they wrote. More accounts of Toby’s kindness and sweet nature poured in, and they were sure to warm Krystal’s heart on that day.
Father and daughter
Krystal was born to Toby and his wife Tricia Lucus in 1985, after adopting their eldest, Shelley Covel, years before. Like her father, Krystal is a singer and has performed with her dad on multiple occasions since their first collaboration on 2004’s “Mockingbird.” By 2013, she released her debut album, Whiskey & Lace, which has “Daddy Dance With Me” dedicated to Toby.
Krystal has a family of her own with her husband, Andrew Sandubrae, with whom she shares two adorable daughters, Kirby and Hensley. Toby was undoubtedly a supportive parent to Krystal, who cherishes their moments of touring and sharing stages. She often binges on old footage of their performances just to listen to his voice again.
