The Beach Boys’ co-founder Brian Wilson has been in the care of his publicist, Jean Sievers, and business manager, LeeAnn Hard, through conservatorship for a few months so far. While he is in trusted hands, recent reports state that Brian has now been placed under 24/7 watch by healthcare providers at his Beverly Hills mansion.

Hard and Jean revealed in recent filings that Brian is being tended to by a team of full-time nurses and caregivers who work around the clock to provide his meals and medications daily. The singer has become less coherent, as he cannot understand and respond to conversation like he usually would.

Shortly after losing his lover, Brian spiraled mentally and was said to be less orderly. This led to the urgency of requiring conservatorship for him as he was unable to carry out self-care activities. Brian’s estate is exempt from his guardians’ jurisdiction, although Hard is a trustee of his estate.

Brian’s mental rollercoaster

Brian began dealing with mental health challenges when he was younger, which led him to take on a less conspicuous but creative role as a Beach Boys bandmate; however, his unique talent would not let him stay so hidden. He found solace in drugs, alcohol, and overeating, which would lead to a schizoaffective disorder in his younger years, on top of medical abuse from his longtime doctor, Eugene Landy, who purposely overmedicated him for years.

During an interview with Ability in 2006, Brian admitted to hearing voices that would often talk down on him until he met a psychologist who helped him recover and abstain from drugs without much repercussion. Melinda also contributed greatly to his well-being, as she ensured he was secure and in good hands medically.
