Courteney Cox had her only child, Coco Arquette, in 2004 with her ex David Arquette. With a new baby after her time as Monica Geller on Friends, Cox found help and support in her co-star Jennifer Aniston, who is also her best friend. Two decades later, Aniston has remained a consistent presence in Coco’s life and is reportedly very protective of her.
A source recently revealed that Aniston has been teaching her goddaughter about weathering the Hollywood spotlight as a celebrity kid. Coco and Aniston share a close bond, with the A-list actress spoiling her at every chance she gets. Aniston’s love for Coco is a reflection of her longtime friendship with Cox.

Interestingly, Coco’s name is a blend of the first two letters of her mother’s last and first name. The 20-year-old is a talented singer, who has also shown interest in her parent’s career path in acting. There have been clips of her performing songs like “Silver Springs” by Fleetwood Mac, Taylor Swift’s “Cardigan,” and Adele’s “Chasing Pavement” with Cox playing the piano in the background.

She has done a couple of impressive public performances such as a collaboration with Snow Patrol on “Chasing Cars” in 2019, and a duet of “Unwritten” with Natasha Bedingfield at UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability benefit gala two years later. Cox has tried to shield her from the public eye, but Coco seems to be one for the spotlight.
Mother, daughter and Auntie
Aniston has proven to be Coco’s third parent, as the young lady already enjoys love and care from her mom and dad despite their split. Coco even shares matching tattoos with her mom, which they both showed off in 2022. David also got inked for her back in 2009, with the inscription of her first written note to her parents which read “I love mum and dad” on his body.
Although Aniston has no tattoos for Coco, she gushes about her on social media and often shows her off. The 55-year-old was present during Cox’s Hall of Fame star unveiling with Coco leaning on her shoulder. Aniston even got emotional and shed tears of joy for her friend as she moved closer to Coco.
When the cameras aren’t snapping, the bond between Aniston and Coco remains strong as ever. A source close to the Cox-Arquette told Closer, “Jen has had a lot of long talks with Coco about pretty much everything, and she’s pushed herself to be the best possible example to Coco, while also warning her about the troubles she can get herself into as the daughter of two very famous parents.” The source added, “Obviously, Jen has been a huge influence on this girl and as now Coco is in her 21st year, Jen is full of pride at what a smart and kind young person she has become.”
The source was asked if Aniston “spoils Coco rotten,” to which the source diplomatically said that was a “matter of opinion,” and that Aniston treats Coco “like a family member.”
“Their relationship is a reflection of the kind of relationship Jen would have liked to have had, but never did with her own mother,” the source added. “Coco is like blood to Jen, even when Jen has had issues and tensions with Courteney over the years, especially when she and David split up, her adoration for Coco has never been in doubt for even one second.”
