Fisher died on a flight from London to Los Angeles on December 23 after she suffered a cardiac arrest. Despite prompt emergency medical intervention and being rushed to a hospital upon landing, she never regained consciousness.

Recently, Fisher’s longtime friend, James Blunt, reminisced on her death and also shared his perspective on what he believes contributed to her sudden death. James made this revelation in a recent interview to discuss his new memoir, Loosely Based on a Made-Up Story, citing that the actress facing immense pressure working in Holywood might have played a significant role in her untimely demise.

Blunt, who formed an unexpected friendship with Fisher during the production of his debut album, Back to Bedlam, and even lived with the iconic actress and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, at their Los Angeles home, revealed that he spent time with Fisher just a day before her untimely death.

The musician recounted that Fisher was thrilled about reprising her role as Princess Leia in another Star Wars sequel. However, he also noted that she appeared to be under significant stress from studio executives who pressured her to maintain a specific body weight for the role despite her age.

The singer revealed that the immense pressure she faced eventually became too much to bear, causing her to relapse into drug use despite having achieved several periods of sobriety in the past. Reflecting on her tragic demise, Blunt expressed his belief that her death was not merely a result of cardiac arrest, as official reports stated.

He concluded that the toxicology report painted a more accurate picture of what happened. According to the report, a dangerous cocktail of drugs, including cocaine, heroin, MDMA, and methadone, was found in her system; he suggested that this mix of powerful substances was ultimately responsible for her untimely demise.
