Following the premiere screening of The Beach Boys’ new documentary, Brian Wilson’s daughter took to Instagram with a photo of Brian in a wheelchair at the event and her mother, Marilyn Rovell. Brian joined the rest of his bandmates at the TCL Chinese Theater amid his battle with a “major neurocognitive disorder.”
Carnie expressed how “nothing touches my heart more than to see my Mom and Dad tell each other they love each other” and thanked Mike Love’s daughter Ambha for taking the photo. Marilyn and Brian have been divorced since 1979, after which the latter moved on with Melinda, who died from undisclosed causes in January.

It was wholesome to see a cordial relationship between Brian and Marilyn, whose love life was portrayed in the Disney Plus film. Carnie’s followers including Ambha gushed in the comments about the heartfelt moment and thanked her for sharing. “I love you so much,” Ambha wrote. “So happy I could capture this beautiful moment.”

Others who had yet to stream The Beach Boys expressed their anticipation, while some called for Marilyn’s ciopic, too, as she is an excellent singer in her own right. “Let’s not forget what mom brought to the table! The Honeys were a damn good group, too, and Marilyn is a great singer,” a user noted. “Looking forward to seeing the documentary so much. My love for The Beach Boys is a main reason I picked my channel name,” another user revealed.
Marilyn was only 15 when she began dating 21-year-old Brian in the early ‘60s. She was a singer herself and a member of two girl bands, The Honey and American Spring, later in the ‘70s. The duo got married in 1964, and their two daughters, Carnie and Wendy, at the same period as Brian’s heightened battle with drug use and alcohol.
Theirs was a tumultuous marriage due to Brian’s recklessness, as he was not only an addict but also cheated on Marilyn with multiple women. The Beach Boys frontman had an affair with his sister-in-law Diane Rovell and suggested that they open their marriage as well. Marilyn could not stand Brian’s vices, and they soon went their separate ways. Over the years, the former couple have maintained a respectful relationship for their children’s sake, evidenced by Carnie’s latest post.
