Wynonna Judd Fires Back At Haters Over Her Concerning ‘American Idol’ Performance

Wynonna Judd’s appearance at the finale episode of American Idol season 22 got fans talking, as the country singer seemed uneasy and “frozen” while performing Loretta Lynn’s “Coal Miner’s Daughter” with Emmy Russell. There were speculations about her health, and some internet users attributed her minimal movement to vertigo.

A similar incident happened during the 2023 CMA Awards event, where she held on tight to Jelly Roll’s arm for support during their duet. Judd simply attributed her action to nerves, citing that she was anxious during the rendition. However, her response to the recent rumors was far from gentle this time as she subtly clapped back at social media trolls.

Following the American Idol performance, which featured Judd in a two-piece blazer suit and matching cowboy hat, the fifty-nine-year-old addressed her appearance and health concerns via an Instagram post. Judd shared three photos from the event with a cheeky caption that read, “Did we plan wardrobe around @americanidol or did they plan around me?”

Judd seemed to insinuate that her outfit was uncomfortable and restricted her movement rather than a made-up ailment. Relieved fans responded to the new post as well, commenting on Tiffany Gifford’s outfit.

Judd has had her share of health challenges, such as vertigo, life-threatening blood clots, and being overweight. Before her canceled New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash show in December 2022, she reported an “extreme bout of vertigo” that left her dizzy and unable to perform. She had another episode of the same issue mid-concert in Ohio early last year.

In a bid to live a healthier lifestyle, Judd committed to losing weight and shed a whopping 55 pounds after two near-death experiences. She underwent surgery to fix her stomach muscles, which led to blood clots in her lungs; this was followed by a car accident in Salt Lake City that led her to begin cutting down on excess food. She now snacks on fruits, vegetables, and nuts, unlike her go-to box of doughnuts, and takes frequent walks around the house, plus pole-dancing classes.
