John Stamos And Bob Saget Fought While Filming ‘Full House’—With An Adorable Twist

Following their time as in-laws for eight seasons of Full House, Bob Saget and John Stamos became known as steadfast friends. But while filming the ABC sitcom, it wasn’t uncommon to see the two clashing, and things came to a head while at an important photography event.

Stamos, along with his Full House co-stars, has been continually sharing memories of the late Saget since the comedian’s sudden passing in January 2022. Outside of his work on Full House, Saget was known for his mature adult humor, and Stamos would even call him “distracting” and “disruptive” when filming. But their feud ended up coming to a shockingly adorable resolution.

Usually, the topic of their debates would revolve around line changes and each actor’s approach to his respective character. But there was also another cuter culprit behind some clashes.

“During photoshoots or promos for the show, Bob and I often jockey to be the one holding Michelle,” revealed Stamos. “We argue over who should be in the center or do single photos with Mary-Kate or Ashley.” Even this, they carried to an extreme while in the middle of working with a professional.

One time, arguing over taking photos with Michelle continued right into a photoshoot with celebrated photographer Annie Leibovitz. Portrait photographer Leibovitz is known for her powerful pictures of celebrities. Her portfolio includes the Polaroid of John Lennon and Yoko Ono just hours before his murder; this photo is considered one of Rolling Stone magazine’s most famous covers.

Declared a living legend by the Library of Congress, Leibovitz was the first woman to have a feature exhibition at Washington’s National Portrait Gallery—and she had to sit through the Stamos and Saget feud.

“She’s had enough and kicks everyone off the set but me and Mary-Kate,” shared Stamos. “She captures a sweet shot of Jesse and Michelle wrapped in a blanket, both somehow looking equally innocent.”

According to Stamos, Saget didn’t take too well to missing this powerful photo opportunity. In retaliation to Saget’s attitude, Stamos admitted, “I jokingly suggested to Bob that he take off his shirt, grab a binky, and come cuddle with me in the blankie.”

On top of that, they also came from different entertainment backgrounds, and there were some growing pains working together. “Our styles completely clashed,” explained Stamos. “He was a comic. If there was even one person on the set, he had to make them laugh. And I was, ‘Where is the drama?’ I think we met in the middle. But we both went in kicking and screaming, not wanting to bend what we do.” Indeed, Saget’s addiction to laughs drove him to often act out, which Stamos felt “that it could have been a detriment sometimes to him.”

But, Stamos is always quick to emphasize, “He found a balance like nobody I’ve ever seen. He would make up for all of that with just as much love or more,” adding, “Bob was bombastic with his love and his friendship. If you were a friend or even an acquaintance, he was like this [mashes hands together] on you all the time.”
