Lisa Marie Presley remains in the hearts of her kids and fans after her tragic passing from a fatal bowel obstruction due to bariatric surgery complications. Her 15-year-old daughter Finley Lockwood took to Instagram on Sunday with a heartfelt Mother’s Day tribute for the late singer alongside a throwback photo. “Happy Mother’s Day to the best mom ever,” Finley wrote.
The post featured Finley and her twin sister Harper all dressed up as princesses with Lisa Marie in a tiara as well. “Even though we can’t celebrate with you I’m still so grateful for all our memories,” Finley wrote. Her older sister, Riley Keough, reposted the photos to her own Instagram story, echoing similar sentiments about their late mom.
Being a mother herself, Priscilla Presley has had a hard time getting over the death of Lisa Marie, who was her only child with the famous Elvis Presley. She admitted to Entertainment Tonight that Lisa Marie has remained in her daily thoughts, and she still finds it hard to believe she is gone. “I miss my daughter very, very much, and it was a shock to all of us,” she said.
Priscilla added that Lisa Marie was unhappy during her final years, especially after losing her only son, Benjamin, to suicide in 2020. In the actress’ words, “That was really when she just didn’t want to be here.” Lisa Marie had famously described herself as being “ferociously protective” of her kids, all of whom she called her priority.
Although Lisa Marie enjoyed a loving relationship with her kids, hers and Priscilla’s had its share of problems, with a source revealing that Priscilla was too controlling. The insider added that their relationship was complicated, especially because Lisa Marie wanted the trust and Graceland to go to her children. After Lisa Marie’s passing, Priscilla debunked rumors of any family feud, urging her fans to “ignore the noise.”
Stoking more controversy, the 78-year-old had challenged “the authenticity and validity” of a “purported 2016 amendment” to Lisa Marie’s trust just four days after her memorial service in Memphis. The late singer had named Riley and Benjamin as co-trustees after allegedly removing Priscilla and her former business manager, Barry Siegel, as beneficiaries. Riley later came forward in defense of her grandmother, clarifying that the legal disagreement was “misconstrued” to the public.
