As Clint Eastwood turns 94 next month, he is likely also entering into retirement as his new movie, Juror No. 2, is rumored to be his final project. The thriller movie features Nicholas Hoult as Justin Kemp, who is on a murder trial jury but realizes he may have killed the victim while driving recklessly.

The movie also features Knives Out star Tony Collette as a prosecutor. Clint’s last film will be debuting at Cannes this May according to reports from Warner Bros. Insiders reveal that the studio is “thrilled” by the movie’s first look and is “hoping and working” alongside Clint to screen it on the Croisette in France in a few weeks.

Screenwriter and film director Paul Schrader, who is also debuting Oh, Canada this year at Cannes commended Clint and counterparts like Francis Ford Coppola and David Cronenberg for taking center stage in 2024’s film festivals. “Eastwood is the great-grandfather of the geriatric generation. But there’s a guy from Portugal, Cannes alum Manoel de Oliveira, who worked till he was 104,” he said. “So Clint still has a ways to go to catch him.”

Fans on social media also expressed their excitement at the soon-to-be-released movie, while praising Clint for his long-term contribution to the Hollywood film industry. “Clint could direct a whole other movie by the time ‘Juror #2’ releases in the Fall,” someone hoped. “I’m really looking forward to the latest movie and I’m waiting for it to be released in Japan,” another added, with some other user asking jokingly if they need to “see ‘Juror #1’ first?”

Juror No. 2, which also stars Zoey Deutch, Kiefer Sutherland, JK Simmons, Leslie Bibb, and Chris Messina, comes as a relief to anticipating fans, as production had to be halted for months last year due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes. According to sources, “he [Clint] wants to do this movie as a swan song and go out in a blazing sunset,” especially after Cry Macho ended up being a flop. “They were very disappointed that Clint’s last movie ‘Cry Macho’ bombed at the box office,” the insider explained. “He was happy to finally get a go-ahead from Warner for his new film.”

There is no certainty as to whether Clint is giving up movie-making for good, however, the nearly 94-year-old reportedly feels like “the movie industry has retired on him.” “At this point, if Clint wanted to make a small movie in the future, he could just fund it himself. But a lot of it depends on how Clint’s health holds up,” the tipster added.
